Yorkshire Parkin (450g)

For those of you who haven't come across this famous Yorkshire recipe the best description I could give you of our Seriously Good Yorkshire Parkin is "A ginger cake predominantly baked using oatmeal and a perfect blend of syrup & black treacle"
Yorkshire Parkin varies across the region depending usually on the family recipes used but we believe we make the best Parkin in Yorkshire. Our recipe is over 100 years old and time and time again customer feedback I get is that the Parkin tastes like Grandmas used to make, this for me is the ultimate compliment.

One of the Seriously Good things about our Yorkshire Parkin is that the treacle in the recipe caramelises and hardens during baking, so before it leaves the bakery it is kept for a few days to allow it to "come again" - this is where the caramel softens giving each piece the perfect crumbly stickiness.

There are no artificial life enhancing ingredients in our Yorkshire Parkin yet the syrup preserves the cake for up to 12 weeks. Although there are no nuts in the recipe we are unable to guarantee nut free as we do have nuts in our bakery and the recipe does contain Wheat Flour. It is however suitable for vegetarians. Each Parkin is baked into a tray and then placed in the bag which is then tied by hand, the weight is 400g.

Traditionally enjoyed throughout the country on Bonfire Night and throughout the year in Yorkshire, I can strongly recommend that in Summer our Parkin works brilliantly with Strawberries and fresh Cream and in Winter hot with custard or Caramel Sauce and any day with a Pot of Tea.

Parkin Pudding (300g)
I am really excited about my Seriously Good Parkin Pudding. Following a tasting day at Harewood House, Leeds in the old kitchen the response I got to serving the Parkin with Caramel Sauce was amazing. I also had customers suggesting I should extend my range so the Parkin Pudding appeared to be a Seriously good idea!

You could argue that this pudding is great value for money as unlike any sponge pudding the oatmeal in the Parkin makes this a very substantial pudding and a little bit goes a long way! The weight of the pack is 300g, I only do the one size currently and the shelf life is 10 weeks from baking, if required you can freeze this product for 6 months. Although there are no nuts in the recipe we are unable to guarantee nut free as we do have nuts in our bakery and the recipe does contain Wheat Flour. It is however suitable for vegetarians.

The Parkin Pudding is Seriously Good when served with fresh cream or ice cream, we bake the parkin in the foil and then add the caramel sauce so all you have to do is just place it in the oven and it takes between 15 - 18 minutes to heat up. Alternatively if you remove it from the foil then you can microwave.

This is a Seriously Good pudding to accompany any meal!

Caramel Sauce (220g)

This Seriously Good Caramel Sauce is a must stock in your kitchen and also makes a perfect gift along with the Seriously Good Yorkshire Parkin. This is the sauce we use on the Pudding however there is enough sauce on the pudding without having to buy this one to go on it. This sauce is Seriously Good when served simply over vanilla ice cream, alternatively if you whip up fresh cream and stir a little of the Caramel Sauce through it makes a great filling for Brandy Snaps, finish with raspberries and this will provide you with a quick, impressive dessert. I have also used the sauce with fresh cream to finish my sponge cake for an afternoon tea and apparently it works very well with baked bananas! Keep the ideas coming!!

Having a Seriously Good Sauce then requires Seriously Good packaging so I hope you will agree that the time I take to hand wrap each one makes it feel that little bit special.
